Harold saves her, and the two of them leave Ogunquit in search of other survivors. The adaptation alters details (gender, race, age, etc.) of some main characters, moves the setting to modern-day 21st century, and features a new final episode co-written with his son, Owen, making it the third variation of the story's conclusion.
